Doug Dawson Presents Plein Aire Pastel Workshop (top)
Doug Dawson is a nationally recognized artist and the author of “Capturing Light & Color with Pastel”. His work is represented frequently in publications and books such as American Artist Magazine, Pastel Journal Magazine, and Artist’s Magazine. He is a Master Pastelist in the Pastel Society of America and is their 2008 Hall of Fame Honoree. Doug is also a Founding Board Members of the Art Student League of Denver, in Colorado.

This class will meet at various locations along the shore line. Doug will begin by demonstrating the basic approaches to painting pastels. Student will have time to try their hand at the skills illustrated. Individual and group critiques will be given. Space is limited.

The answer for “Where to begin?” This class will combine a drawing lesson and a painting lesson each week. We will cover drawing basics to help students understand perspective, proportion, shading, reflections, and more. This knowledge will be used in learning to control and explore techniques while having fun painting with watercolors.

In this class you will learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop, an industry standard graphics programs used by professionals for media applications. Learn the tools necessary to touch up, resize and save photographs and other artwork. Photoshop
can be an overwhelming program, but once you begin to understand how to use the essential tools - like filters, masks and paths - you’ll discover how much fun this creativity-broadening tool can be.

InDesign CS3 is a robust and easy-to-use layout application used to produce magazine and newspaper layouts, as well as newsletters, brochures and mailers. In this workshop you will learn the essential tools to being your own graphic designer, how to set up a document, working with layers, working with master pages, importing text and placing images.

Join Jan Blencowe for a three day workshop designed to get your art career moving forward towards success!

Day One will focus on finding your authentic visual voice and developing your own unique style.

Day Two is designed to teach you how to evaluate your own work with an eye towards refining your artistic vision and strengthen your work each time you paint. Bring two pieces of art for critique.

Day Three is an intensive class that will show you how to get your work on line and in front of a global audience. You’ll leave with a step by step plan to set up a blog, linked to a website, and tools to promote both using social media like Facebook and Twitter.
